Spring/Summer Shoe Report

The warm weather is here and it’s time for the low down on what’s in store for shoes this season.

When it comes to trends for dress shoes, they fall right in line with the rest of your business wardrobe – streamlined. Look for something on the narrower side with a rounded toe. Every man should have a basic black lace up to wear with a suit or a pair of jeans. It is the most versatile and dependable shoe you can own and it’s a must have. A real pair of dress shoes will have a leather sole, but there are a lot of quality rubber soled options that will look great with either a dress or casual look.

Looking to amp up your style? A leather soled military style boot is great with a suit. And it doesn’t just have to be in black. A light brown looks fantastic with a grey suit. Another option is penny loafers. With a suit they look more formal, but tone down to a more casual look with a polo and jeans. Need more? The dressed up sneaker will work with your trendy suit and your jeans with ultimate style.

Moving to a more casual shoe, chukkas are great for any season and any colour. Look for suede or leather options. And don’t forget the classic driver in any colour from basic black to bright red suede. The boat shoe is also back in a big way this season. Look for the classic tan or choose from a multitude of colours to look hot all summer long. Wear them without socks and try a little talcum powder to cool and refresh those tootsies.

Once you’ve got your shoes dialed in move into accessories. Your shoes and belt should match to really bring everything together. Then you can add some flash with your socks. Keep it in the same general colour family, but don’t be afraid. A little pop of colour can go a long way to adding some real style to your look.
