Our History

Wayne and Jay MacDermott moved to Kelowna in 1994 with the lifelong dream of opening their own men’s clothing store.  Wayne had been in the clothing business since 1974 and was ready for the big show. That dream became a reality in April of 1995.

In 2005 MacDermott’s underwent a major renovation adding over 2000 square feet of retail space. With this addition came the extra space needed to start carrying a full range of shoes and boots. Also included was the Tommy Bahama shop-in-shop. It was the only store of its kind in North America.

2012 was another milestone year for MacDermott’s as the Tommy Bahama space was converted to a unique Robert Graham shop-in-shop and Wayne’s personal man-cave. Additionally, the business expanded to include online sales.

The stylish men of Kelowna have come to trust the staff at MacDermott’s and when Wayne says “This is for you, you’re buying it”, you listen. With almost 50 years of experience in the men’s wear business, it’s fair to say… he really knows his stuff.

Since moving to Kelowna, Wayne and Jay have never looked back. MacDermott’s celebrated its 28 year anniversary in 2023 and is looking forward to many more great years.
