Return of the Interesting Fabrics

Not too long ago, all sport coats and suits looked and physically weighed about the same. The difference in weight between a summer blazer and a winter one was almost nil. Got the job done, but pretty boring.

Things finally changed right before we were about to nod off. Now, come fall when the temperature drops, put on a beautifully textured twill from Tombolini. As you have probably guessed something has changed. The fit – now slim, shorter in length, higher arm holes and softer shoulders. This coat makes for a seriously stylish functional piece in the office or on the town.

If the tweed isn’t doing it for you, how about a checked plaid from Hugo Boss Black. Layer it with a wool half zip mock, and under that a checked shirt to compliment the jacket. A pair of jeans like the dressy casual by Alberto, or dress pants finish off this great autumn look.

Fabrics this season are varied in texture and especially pattern. Traditional checks, plaids and windowpanes are keeping suits and sport coats interesting. And keep the bold patterns going by styling aggressive patterns under the jacket. Grandpa’s plaid my be resurrected, but this isn’t your grandpa’s suit!
