MacDermott’s began with a dream. In 1994, Wayne and Jay MacDermott moved to Kelowna with a clear vision: to open a premium men’s clothing store rooted in experience, service, and style. After decades in the business—Wayne having started in 1974—that dream became reality in April of 1995.
From day one, MacDermott’s was built around a commitment to helping men look and feel their best. In 2005, the store underwent a major expansion, adding over 2,000 square feet of retail space. This growth allowed us to introduce a full range of footwear and launch the first Tommy Bahama shop-in-shop of its kind in North America.
Over the years, MacDermott’s has earned the trust of stylish men across the Okanagan—and beyond. In fact, we now have customers from all over the world.
In October 2023, the torch was passed to James and Suzen Marshall, ushering in a new chapter for MacDermott’s. James brings decades of experience in Kelowna’s retail landscape, particularly in the high-end furniture industry. Known for his eye for design, attention to detail, and strong leadership, James has built a reputation as a retail magnet—someone who understands what customers want and knows how to deliver it.
We’re fortunate that many of the same trusted faces have stayed with us, including longtime General Manager Noel Anderson, whose leadership and product knowledge continue to be a cornerstone of the store. That consistency helps us preserve the MacDermott’s experience our customers know and love.
Adding to the excitement, James and Suzen’s youngest son, Tanner, has recently joined the business after completing his NCAA hockey career. He brings fresh perspective, youthful energy, and a commitment to carrying on the MacDermott’s legacy for the next generation.
In April 2025, MacDermott’s proudly celebrated 30 years in business. What began as a dream in 1995 is now a pillar in Kelowna’s retail community. With a strong foundation, a loyal team, and a new family chapter underway, the future looks bright—and just as sharp as the menswear we carry.
